Our Story

A hundred Christmases of neighbors helping neighbors

The Good Cheer Fund began in 1921 with a simple idea: no family in Johnson County should go without a good meal at Christmas. A hundred years later, that idea has grown into 900+ food baskets delivered to local homes every December.

We're entirely volunteer-run. Neighbors nominate neighbors, families and church groups pack the baskets, and on one Saturday morning a small army of drivers fans out across the county to deliver them — free of charge, with no questions and no judgment.

Need a basket?

If your household could use a little help with groceries this Christmas, applying takes about five minutes — no documentation, no judgment. You can also apply on behalf of someone you know.

Want to help?

Drive a route on Delivery Day, pack baskets, or lend a hand at the warehouse. Bring the whole family or your church group — every pair of hands helps us reach 900 neighbors.
